DENVER – MSU Denver opens Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play in men's basketball this weekend, but up first is a Tuesday night nonconference matchup with Colorado College.
The game, which was rescheduled from last week due to snow, will tip at 7 p.m. at the Auraria Event Center.
"We are not talking about Regis or any of our upcoming games this weekend," Metropolitan State University of Denver coach
Michael Bahl said. "Right now, the most important game on our schedule is Colorado College. They have our complete attention and respect. They are coming off a big-time win over the No. 21-ranked team in the country, so they are going to be excited and ready to play against us. It's going to be a hard-fought game and we are looking forward to the competition."
MSU Denver is 3-2 for the season after losing its first two games of the season. Since returning home, the Roadrunners have won three straight and they hope to continue their winning ways with three more home games this week.
"We're feeling good, but we can't get too high," guard
Demetrius Jackson said. "We've got to keep going. We have one more preseason game and then we go into conference play. We're going to try to get six in a row at home."
Colorado College, which competes in NCAA Division III, is 2-3 this season but is coming off a 95-92 win Saturday over Whitman (Wash.), the 21
st-ranked team in Division III.
After Tuesday's game, the Roadrunners will set their sights on Friday's matchup with 5-1 Regis in the RMAC opener. The 7 p.m. game will be televised locally on Channel 20. On Saturday, MSU Denver plays host to Colorado Christian (0-6).
"We want to continue to make statements every game, take each game seriously, and get ready for conference play," point guard
Mitch Lombard said.
