@MSUDenverTennis: Roadrunners Roll to Four More Victories

Men don't drop a match all day

PUEBLO, Colo. – MSU Denver continued its impressive start to the tennis season on Friday.

At the Colorado State University-Pueblo Duals, the Roadrunners' men's team cruised to wins of 4-0 over Dallas Baptist and 5-0 over Texas-Permian Basin, while the women beat Dallas Baptist 4-2 and Fort Hays State (Kan.) 5-0.

The Roadrunners had the finalists in all six brackets of their own invitational last weekend, and the women swept their nemesis from the University of Nebraska at Kearney on Thursday.

Graetz mixed and matched his lineups, particularly for the women's opponents.

"It was a great day for both programs," Metropolitan State University of Denver coach Josh Graetz said. "I think both the men and the women came out really strong in our first match and that set the tone for the rest of the day."

The men's team won all six of its doubles matches to pick up one point against each opponent. Then Daniel Llorente, at No. 1, and Mateo Besada, at No. 4, were each able to complete two singles victories before the duals were clinched. Both Llorente and Besada were part of two doubles victories as well.

Meanwhile, the women lost two of three doubles matches to give up a point in the opening dual with Dallas Baptist before storming back to win four doubles matches.

Against Fort Hays State, the Roadrunners lost a total of 13 games in the five matches that were completed. Brooklyn Ross (No. 2 and No. 1), Gala Castello (No. 4 and No. 2) and Kayla Myburgh (No. 5 and No. 3) were each able to complete two singles victories, and Myburgh was a part of two doubles wins.

Both teams wrap up the CSU-Pueblo Duals with 4:30 p.m. matchups with Newman (Kan.) on Saturday.

"I'm really proud of the way we are competing, and I'm looking forward to getting back out there tomorrow," Graetz said.
