Box Score WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The MSU Denver women's tennis team didn't come up with a victory Saturday in its matchup with 12
th-ranked Angelo State (Texas), but it did get a strong effort that it can build on.
The Roadrunners lost 4-1 to finish their Texas trip at 1-3, but also had two unfinished singles matches that were in the third set, indicating the score may have been closer than it looks.
"I thought this was our most complete match of the weekend, even though we didn't get the result," Metropolitan State University of Denver coach
Josh Graetz said. "We're looking forward to getting back to work."
Tabitha Porter got the Roadrunners' lone win – a 6-2, 6-4 decision over Ena Ovcina at No. 2 singles.
But
Brooklyn Ross was leading 6-3, 1-6, 3-2 in her No. 1 singles match when the dual was clinched, and
Gala Castello was deadlocked 6-4, 6-7 (4-7), 1-1 at No. 4 at the close of play.
Angelo State improved to 10-1, while MSU Denver dropped to 6-4.
The Roadrunners are away from competition until March 21, when they play Seward County (Kan.) Community College and then face host CSU-Pueblo, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively, in Pueblo, Colo.
