ALAMOSA, Colo. – MSU Denver confirmed its status as the No. 1 team in NCAA Division II volleyball with an easy 3-0 victory Friday night at Adams State.
Rylee Hladky had 13 kills,
Avaline Lai added 11 and
Ember Canty had six kills and six blocks in a 25-17, 25-18, 25-18 victory over the Grizzlies in the Roadrunners' first match since becoming the No. 1 team in the country for the first time in program history.
While Adams State sprung a surprise against then-No. 2 (and current No. 4) Angelo State (Texas) in September, the Roadrunners quickly quashed any upset uprisings Friday.
MSU Denver hit .500 in the first set and .372 for the match while extending its winning streak to 15 and improving to 17-2 overall and 11-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
"We played a solid match against a very aggressive and scrappy team," MSU Denver coach
Jenny Glenn said. "It was a loud and rowdy environment, and I was pleased with how we played through that. And we hit for a really good percentage."
