COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – No. 12 UCCS scored late in the first half, and then broke open the closely-contested game with another goal in the second half and earned a 2-0 victory over visiting MSU Denver on Thursday.
UCCS improved to 9-2 overall and 4-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while MSU Denver dropped to 5-3-2 and 2-3.
It was the first time all season MSU Denver allowed more than one goal.
Elisa Dean and
Paloma Teran each put two shots on goal for the Roadrunners, while
Kayla Caballero had four saves.
"It was a hard-fought battle with end-to-end action," MSU Denver coach
Kat Mertz said. "Both teams had a lot of chances, and it was a physical game."
