Avaline Lai and
Riley Anderson each added eight kills and
Ember Canty had five kills on .556 hitting with five blocks as No. 2 MSU Denver cruised to a 3-0 win at South Dakota Mines on Friday night.
MSU Denver (13-2 overall, 7-0 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) won its 11
th straight match to give the program its longest winning streak since winning 21 straight during the 2016 season.
In the 25-13, 25-12, 25-18 victory, MSU Denver hit a sizzling .354 (30 kills, two errors, 79 attacks) through two sets before settling in and finishing at .309 for the match.
South Dakota Mines, which earlier this season beat then-No. 19 Northern State (S.D.), dropped to 8-7 overall and 2-5 in the RMAC.
"I thought we played really clean volleyball," MSU Denver coach
Jenny Glenn said. "After two sets we only had two errors. We did a good job converting against offspeed (attacks) and we worked together as a crew.
"Our setters (
Jessa Megenhardt and
Amela Qershia) did a great job running an efficient offense and our defenders were very alert."
Trinity Weidinger had a career-best three service aces while playing in only one set, and the Roadrunners had six aces and only three service errors all night.
"We were serving aggressively," Glenn said. "We wanted to play Roadrunner volleyball, and we were very focused."
The Roadrunners also had a 8-0 advantage in blocks.
MSU Denver wraps up its road trip Saturday at 5 p.m. against Black Hills State (5-10, 2-5).
