DENVER -- During a cold and chilly day against New Mexico, the MSU Denver women's tennis team was able to pick up two wins but ultimately fell 5-2 to the Lobos.
"I'm proud of the ladies today, and how they competed in very cold conditions," MSU Denver coach
Josh Graetz said. "I thought that was our most complete singles performance of the year If a couple of the close matches go the other way, we could have come away with the win. Credit to New Mexico though."
Both
Brooklyn Ross at No. 1 singles and
Lilly Stienemeier at No. 6 singles won three-set matches (Stienemneier's was a super set), and
Isabel Heras and
Gala Castello, at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively, both went the distance before falling.
"There are definitely some things we need to adjust and work on, but overall it was a positive day," Graetz said.
The Roadrunners dropped to 0-2, though both matches have been against teams from NCAA Division I's Mountain West Conference.
