WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The MSU Denver men's and women's tennis teams rolled to victory Friday in a neutral-court dual against Oklahoma Baptist.
Both teams triumphed 6-1.
For the men,
Daniel Llorente earned a three-set win at No. 1 singles, rallying for a 1-6, 6-2, 6-1 victory after teaming with
Mateo Besada for a 7-6 (5) win at No. 1 doubles.
Jack McDermott (No. 2 singles) and
David Kijak (No. 5) also earned hard-fought wins by scores of 7-5, 6-4 and 6-3, 7-5, respectively. McDermott and his brother, Billy (No. 6 singles, No. 2 doubles) joined Llorente and
Alejandro Martinez-Morilla (No. 4 singles, No. 2 doubles) in winning twice.
"The men competed hard and did a good job of finishing on big points," MSU Denver coach
Josh Graetz said. "It was a closer match than the score may show."
The women, meanwhile, won two of the three doubles sets without losing a game, then showcased depth in the singles matches, winning with relative ease at the Nos. 3 through 6 positions.
"The women did a great job of executing and taking care of business," Graetz said.
