DENVER – Fresh off a big win over a ranked foe last Friday, the No. 4 MSU Denver volleyball team is looking to keep things rolling this week during a 1 p.m. match at Westminster.
"This week of practice has been about returning to the fundamentals to make sure that our foundation stays strong as well as continuing to strengthen our mindset," MSU Denver coach
Jenny Glenn said. "I like where we finished the match against Regis last week and we will be looking to carry that level through this weekend."
MSU Denver (10-1 overall and 8-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) won the non-conference match with No. 21 Regis 3-1 after losing the first set.
Rylee Hladky had a career-high 18 kills, and for the season she is second in the RMAC with 3.8 points per set, fourth with 3.2 kills per set, fifth with 0.46 aces per set and 10th with 3.6 digs per set.
The week also included a 3-0 Thursday win over Chadron State.
Jessa Megenhardt was named the RMAC's Setter of the Week, while middle blocker
Mikayla McClinton was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week.
Westminster is 5-10 overall and is 3-8 in the RMAC. The Griffins took a set from Colorado Mesa early in the season and pushed No. 6 Colorado School of Mines to five sets, but is coming off a three-set loss to Colorado Mesa (25-10, 25-11, 25-22).
Westminster is sixth in the RMAC in hitting percentage (.187), while MSU Denver is first in holding opponents to .090 hitting.
