WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The MSU Denver women's tennis team earned its second win of the day Friday, while the Roadrunners men nearly did the same before coming up short in duals against Texas-Tyler.
 
The women clinched a 4-0 victory, but the men suffered three three-set singles losses and fell 4-3.
 
In the women's dual, MSU Denver won two of three matches to earn the point, then got singles wins from Brooklyn Ross, Helena Steenberg and Isabel Heras at Nos. 1, 2 and 3 to clinch the match early.
 
"I'm really proud of how the women competed this afternoon," MSU Denver coach Josh Graetz said. "We handled adversity well and beat a very good team."
 
In the men's dual, Jack McDermott and Jeanloup Auzias won 7-6 (4) at No. 3 doubles to clinch the doubles point, and Mateo Besada (No. 3) and Alejandro Martinez-Morilla (No. 4) both won three-set decisions in singles.
 
Four of the six singles matches went three sets.

"The men lost a heartbreaker today," Graetz said. "It was a match that we let slip, but we will be better for it. I'm very happy how we are gelling in doubles."
 
MSU Denver continues playing in Wichita Falls again Saturday, with both the men and the women facing Southeastern Oklahoma State at 9 a.m.
