RAPID CITY, S.D. – MSU Denver scored in the second minute and
Nick Jansen made nine saves in a 1-0 victory over South Dakota Mines on Saturday in men's soccer.
"Today was a hard-fought battle in tough, windy conditions," MSU Denver coach
Nick Kirchhof said. "We had a positive start scoring early from a set piece with the wind. Against the wind we passed the ball well and dealt with the conditions."
Technically, the Roadrunners' score came on an own goal.
Jansen made six of his career-high nine saves in the second half, including two in the final 3:10, as the Roadrunners improved to 2-3 overall and 2-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
"Nick had a great day in goal and was fantastic in the 2nd half to help close the game out," Kirchhof said. "It was an important three points on the road and I'm happy for the team."
