DENVER – MSU Denver scored two second-half goals to post a 2-1 victory over Marian (Ind.) in a men's exhibition soccer game Thursday night.
 
Bryson Chiles scored in the 48^th minute off an assist from Sam Funnell, and Tyler Welch scored the game-winner in the 58^th minute.
 
The game counted as a regular-season contest for Marian, which competes in the NAIA. Marian scored the game's initial goal off a corner kick in the third minute, but MSU Denver quickly regained control. The goal was Marian's only shot on goal for the game.
 
MSU Denver has two scrimmages scheduled – Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Laramie County Community College (Wyo.) and Aug. 28 at 3 p.m. against the Roadrunners' Alumni – before opening the regular season on Sept. 3 at home against St. Mary's (Texas) at 6 p.m.
