PUEBLO, Colo. – MSU Denver faced a tough team on the road Thursday and dropped a 3-0 decision to CSU-Pueblo.
CSU-Pueblo improved to 5-1 in what was a non-conference game.
"I thought Pueblo played a very good game tonight," MSU Denver coach
Nick Kirchhof said. "They were sharp defensively and executed things offensively with some special attacking players."
CSU-Pueblo held advantages in shots (14-2), shots on goal (9-2) and corner kicks (12-1). The shots on goal for the Roadrunners came from
Gianni Steijlen and
Aaron Biggerstaff.
MSU Denver, which plays CSU-Pueblo in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference game on Oct. 29, dropped to 2-3.
"We fought hard but need to continue to keep improving our speed of play and speed of thought," Kirchhof said. "The good thing is that we get another shot at them later in the season.
"Now we will regroup and be ready for another opportunity to play again Sunday against Newman."
The game at Newman (Kan.) will be MSU Denver's fifth straight game away from home, including four true road games.
