DENVER – MSU Denver played several competitive matches but could only break through at No. 2 singles and wound up on the short end of a 6-1 decision Thursday against Nebraska-Kearney in the teams' first women's tennis dual of the season.
"Kearney was the better team on the day," MSU Denver coach
Josh Graetz said. "We certainly have some things to work on as we head into tomorrow.
"Our ladies will only get better from here."

Ava Neuburger-Higby earned a 6-4, 6-3 victory in her match to pick up the Roadrunners' lone point.
At No. 1
Isabel Heras was outlasted 7-5, 7-6 (3), and
Lilly Stienemeier dropped a 6-3, 6-4 decision at No. 3.
Nebraska-Kearney won all three doubles matches to get that point, though the competitive scores were 6-3, 6-4 and 6-4.
MSU Denver heads to Pueblo, Colo., for two matches Friday, playing Dallas Baptist at 8:30 a.m. and Texas-Permian Basin at 12:30 p.m. The Roadrunners wrap up the weekend with another dual in Pueblo on Saturday at 8 a.m. against Fort Hays State (Kan.).
