LEXINGTON, Ky. – MSU Denver is No. 1, and it's nearly unanimous.
 
After the Roadrunners extended their winning streak to 22 by capturing the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament title, and after No. 2 Wayne State (Neb.) was knocked off in its conference tournament, MSU Denver received all but three of the 47 first-place votes in the Division II American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.
 
MSU Denver's winning streak is the third longest in program history – the 1978 team opened the season 36-0, while last year the Roadrunners had a 24-match run.
 
Now the Roadrunners will embark upon what they hope will be the program's first-ever trip to the Division II National Championships, which some refer to as the elite eight.
 
To get there, MSU Denver (28-1) needs to win three consecutive matches on its home floor this weekend at the Division II South Central Regional. The Roadrunners' first-round matchup is against CSU Pueblo (19-7) on Thursday at 5 p.m.
 
The regional semifinals are Friday at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. (MSU Denver would play at 7:30 if it wins Thursday), and the regional final is Saturday at 6 p.m.
 
Other nationally-ranked teams in the South Central Regional are: No. 9 West Texas A&M, No. 14 Regis, No. 18 Colorado Mesa and No. 22 Colorado School of Mines.

MSU Denver has been ranked No. 1 in the last four polls of the season.
