LARAMIE, Wyo. – Marie Cool and
Gala Castello combined for a win at No. 2 doubles as MSU Denver played a competitive regular-season dual at Division I Wyoming before losing 7-0 on Sunday.
The doubles win by Cool and Castello was part of a strong start for the Roadrunners, but MSU Denver's No. 3 team was forced to retire with the match tied 6-6, allowing Wyoming to earn the doubles point.
"The ladies competed really hard today," MSU Denver coach
Josh Graetz said. "I thought we played really solid doubles and were a little unlucky to not get the point."
In singles, Castello played to a super set in her No. 3 match, falling 1-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-7). Freshman
Monica Guarin played well at No. 6 before losing 6-4, 6-2.
"Wyoming played better in singles, but there were definitely some bright spots for us," Graetz said. "Overall it was a good day."
