SPEARFISH, S.D. – The No. 6 MSU Denver volleyball team took care of business Friday night, avoiding being taxed in a 3-0 sweep at Black Hills State.
The Roadrunners had eight service aces in a 25-12, 25-17, 25-13 victory. It was their 10
th straight win as the improved to 13-3 overall and 6-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. MSU Denver has won a league-record 46 straight regular-season RMAC matches dating to the 2021 season.
Black Hills State dropped to 5-12 and 0-7.
"We served well, and made them uncomfortable, and that makes the rest of the game easier," MSU Denver coach
Jenny Glenn said. "It was another match where we stayed pretty consistent from start to finish and maintained our level of execution and focus, and made great adjustments. And we were able to get our younger players more experience."
Middle blocker
Ember Canty, the leader among active Division II players in career blocks, had six of those (one solo) and added six kills on .667 hitting (no errors, nine attacks).
"She had a good matchup, and we utilized her in some really good situations," Glenn said. "Our middles had a great matchup and executed well offensively, and that's what you want see – to take advantage of what you think is a good matchup."
Riley Anderson had seven kills on .455 hitting and added two service aces while playing two sets,
Rylee Hladky added five kills and three blocks, and middle blocker
Mikayla McClinton had four kills on four swings.
Setters
Delaney Eckhardt (19 assists, three aces) and
Amela Qershia (11 assists, two aces) combined for 30 assists and five aces while directing the team to .355 hitting.
Abbie McCrimmon had a match-high nine digs.
The Roadrunners play Saturday in a 3 p.m. match at South Dakota Mines. The Hardrockers improved to 11-6 overall and 5-02 and tied for fourth in the RMAC after beating 11
th-place Colorado School of Mines 3-1 on Friday.
