@MSUDenverVB: No. 6 Roadrunners Post Sweep at South Dakota Mines

MSU Denver extends league-record win streak in conference play to 47 matches

Box Score RAPID CITY, S.D. – No. 6 MSU Denver won its 47th straight regular-season RMAC volleyball match, extending its league record, on Saturday, winning 3-0 at South Dakota Mines.

The Roadrunners won their 11th straight match this season, including four consecutive sweeps, to improve to 14-3 overall and 7-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

Two-time first-team All-American and two-time RMAC Player of the Year Rylee Hladky had a season-high 13 kills while hitting .500 (one error, 24 attacks), and Riley Anderson added nine kills on .318 hitting. As a team the Roadrunners hit .337 for their fourth consecutive match of better than .300 efficiency.

"I like where our offense is right now," MSU Denver coach Jenny Glenn said. "Our setters are doing a really good job of being students of the game, and trying different things to make sure that we evolve as the season goes on so that we have a lot of options once we get to postseason."

Skyler Michael and Ember Canty each had five blocks (one solo for each) as Division II's best blocking team was credited with seven blocks for the match.

Libero Abbie McCrimmon had match highs of 20 digs and three service aces, and setters Amela Qershia (21) and Delaney Eckhardt (10) combined for 31 assists. Eckhardt became the 19th player in program history with 1,000 career assists and now has 1,002.

South Dakota Mines dropped to 11-7 overall and 5-3 in the RMAC.

"South Dakota Mines has been playing teams tough, and has a lot of weapons," Glenn said. "In the first set a couple of their athletes hit at a high percentage, but we were able to bring that down as the match went on, which was the goal.

"They do a nice job of changing strategies, which required us to make changes as well. They're second in the conference in aces per set and serve very aggressively, and we battled in the lanes against that. They run a fast offense, and if you let them stay in system they are hard to defend. We learned a lot and that made it a fun match."
