BERRY, Ga. – Playing against another top Division II opponent at the ITA Cup on Saturday, MSU Denver's
Emily Hafner was beaten 6-2, 6-1 by Angelina Linnikova of North Georgia.
Hafner finished 1-2 in the prestigious annual event, which brings together most of the top singles players in the country for a 16-team tournament. Hafner is 10-5 overall this fall, including 10-3 against Division II players.
"It was a rough day for Emily, but she gave her all, as always," MSU Denver coach
Bruno Campos said. "She had multiple deuce points that didn't come her way and it changed the match. Overall, it was an amazing fall season and I am super proud of Emily for her accomplishments.
"Her journey in tennis reflects the values of hard work, perseverance, and a never-give-up attitude, and I have no doubt that she will carry these qualities into every match she plays. The spring semester holds the promise of more victories, and we are excited to see her rise to the occasion once again."
