DENVER – The 36
th-ranked MSU Denver women's team picked up another victory Sunday, defeating Fort Hays State (Kan.) 5-2 at the Assembly Athletic Complex.
The Roadrunners improved to 7-4 for the season.
MSU Denver had several lineup changes, but won all three doubles matches to earn that point.
"The ladies did a good job of adjusting right before the doubles," MSU Denver coach
Josh Graetz said. "I thought we started strong and had solid energy through the doubles."
In singles, true freshmen
Hanna Haber and
Kambra Roles moved up to Nos. 2 and 3 singles and earned victories, as did senior
Marie Cool in her second-ever match at No. 1.
Monica Guarin got the Roadrunners' other singles victory, a super-set decision at No. 5.
"We need to learn to never become complacent moving into singles, but I'm proud we were able to come away with a win," Graetz said.
The Roadrunners' women, as well as the MSU Denver men – also ranked 36
th in Division II – are back in action Monday at the Assembly Athletic Complex with 2 p.m. matchups against Division III St. Thomas (Texas).
