@MSUDenverTennis: No. 36 Roadrunners Cruise to 7-0 Victories

Teams prepare for trip to California next week

DENVER – The MSU Denver men's and women's tennis teams both cruised to 7-0 victories Monday over Division III St. Thomas (Texas) at the Assembly Athletic Complex.

Both Roadrunners teams are ranked No. 36 in NCAA Division II.

The MSU Denver women (8-4) moved players up the lineup by three spots from their normal positions, yet lost only a total of five games in the Nos. 2 through 6 positions. Hanna Haber, up from No. 4 to No. 1, was tested in a 6-4, 7-6 (4) victory.

"The ladies responded well today," MSU Denver coach Josh Graetz said. "Our energy was solid from doubles, and we were able to take control of the singles quickly."

The Roadrunners men (7-3) were pushed a bit, but Carlos Pinedo wasn't – he didn't lose a game in either No. 3 doubles or No. 6 singles.

As with the women's dual, the men didn't drop a set in any of their matches. Juho Kantola was pushed to a second-set tiebreaker at No. 2 singles.
"I thought the guys played a solid doubles point and were able to use that momentum into singles," Graetz said. "It was a solid day for them."

MSU Denver next travels to Fresno, Calif., for four days of matches against Pacific West Conference opponents from Sunday through March 22.
