@MSUDenverBSB: Late Rally Not Enough Against UCCS

Schuler homer was highlight of Roadrunners offense

DENVER – MSU Denver was rallying late in the game, but ultimately fell 4-3 on Friday afternoon to UCCS in the first game of a four-game series despite a two-run home run by Zach Schuler in the eighth inning.

"This is a really tough loss and I am really disappointed," said MSU Denver coach Ryan Strain.

Cam Yuran once again racked up a multiple-hit game going 3-for-4 and scoring a run. Schuler was responsible for driving in all three of the Roadrunners runs. Early in the game, the bases seemed to be full of Roadrunners.  MSU Denver left eight runners on base through the first five innings.

"We needed to have better at bats when we had guys on base," said Strain. "When you don't take advantage of scoring opportunities, teams can hang around and beat you."

Reichle Arcilse gave up a lead-off home run to start the game and then settled in throw six scoreless innings while only giving up three hits.  He struck out 10 batters on the day.

"Reichle threw the ball really well toady. As a group, we only gave up six hits," said Strain.

Strain added, "We are going to have to bounce back tomorrow."

MSU Denver will face UCCS in a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at noon.
