DENVER – The MSU Denver men's basketball team defeated Northern New Mexico 85-60 on Saturday afternoon to move to 5-1 overall.
The Roadrunners were led by
Caleb McGill with a game-high 19 points.
Brayden Carter scored 17 points and
Sufyan Elkannan added 10 points.
Logan Threatt had a game-high 10 rebounds.
MSU Denver came out strong defensively, holding Northern New Mexico scoreless during the first four minutes of the game. The Roadrunners started the game on a 15-1 run and would lead by as many as 26 points in the first half. MSU Denver took a 22-point lead into halftime at 46-24.
The second half was more of the same for the Roadrunners as they built a 36-point lead with 9:00 to go following a three-point basket by
Jackson McAdams. Northern New Mexico would attempt to make a comeback in the waning minutes, however, the Roadrunners would never allow the Eagles to get closer than 22 points.
The Roadrunners shot 55.7 percent for the game and held the Eagles to 37.7 percent shooting.
MSU Denver will open Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play on Thursday, December 5 at Fort Lewis. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
