MIDLOTHIAN, Texas – MSU Denver faced a pair of quality teams in both men's and women's tennis Saturday and came up short against both Lubbock Christian (Texas) and Harding (Ark.).
The Roadrunners' women pushed undefeated Lubbock Christian (8-0) to the finish before falling 4-3, then lost to Harding 4-1. The MSU Denver men lost both duals 4-1.
In the women's dual against Lubbock Christian, the Roadrunners narrowly lost the doubles point and got wins at Nos. 1, 5 and 6 singles from
Emily Hafner,
Courtenay Leonard and
Kambra Roles, respectively. Lubbock Christian won three close singles matches, though, including a three-setter at No. 2.
MSU Denver had lost to Lubbock Christian 4-0 in September.
Against Harding, MSU Denver won the doubles point and was leading in two singles matches when Harding clinched the victory.
For the men,
Juho Kantola won at No. 1 singles against Lubbock Christian, and the Roadrunners won the doubles point against Harding.
