PUEBLO, Colo. – MSU Denver's school-record softball winning streak finally came to an end Sunday as CSU Pueblo eked out a pair of one-run victories.
CSU Pueblo won the opening game 7-6, snapping the Roadrunners' streak at 21 games, before capturing the nightcap 3-2 in 10 innings.
MSU Denver dropped to 25-7 overall and is still in first place in the RMAC at 18-2.

Annie Van Wetzinga said. "Pueblo did a much better job of executing offensively and working together as a team to get offense going. They were cleaner defensively behind their pitchers as well."
The Roadrunners scored four in the fourth inning to take a 4-1 lead, but the ThunderWolves chipped away, scoring two runs each in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to secure the victory.
Miah Hartvigsen and
Jenna Medhus each had two hits for MSU Denver – both of Medhus' were doubles.
In the second game,
Maddy Wilson turned in a strong start, allowing one run on three hits in 6 1/3 innings.
"I'm really proud of how Maddy and (reliever) Natalie (Romero) competed in the second game," Van Wetzinga said. "They pitched well and we couldn't get them more run support."
Shelby Robb's RBI single in the top of the 10
th gave MSU Denver a 2-1 lead, but CSU Pueblo answered with two in the bottom of the inning to end it.
"Hopefully this weekend can be a wakeup call and motivation to improve in areas and be more consistent," Van Wetzinga said. "It's a long season and we will have another tough opponent next week so let's see how we respond."
