GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – MSU Denver wrapped up its men's and women's tennis regular seasons with 4-3 victories Saturday at rival Colorado Mesa.
Both Roadrunners teams will play next week at the Pacific West Conference Tournament in Surprise, Ariz.
The MSU Denver women (10-11) won the doubles point and then at Nos. 1, 2 and 3 singles while losing closely-contested matches at Nos. 4, 5 and 6 after the dual was clinched.
Lilly Stienemeier won the clinching match at No. 3 by 4-6, 6-3, 6-1, giving the Roadrunners an insurmountable 4-0 lead.
It was Stienemeier's 43
rd career singles victory, giving her sole possession of ninth place in program history for singles wins.
Emily Hafner, ranked No. 28 in Division II, won 6-4, 7-5 at No. 1 to improve to 20-12 for the season. Her victory total is tied for fourth in a single season in program history.
For the men, MSU Denver (9-11) prevailed despite moving players up from Nos. 2 through 6 in the singles lineup.

Jeanloup Auzias and
Reid Rainwater clinched the doubles point with a 7-6 (8) victory at No. 2.
And, in singles,
Marco Jalalian was a 7-5, 6-4 winner at No. 3 and
Alessandro Munoz won the clinching match at No. 5 by 7-6 (3), 3-6, 6-4 to give MSU Denver an insurmountable 4-2 lead.
Alejandro Jimenez cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1, improving to 41-24 for his career.
The MSU Denver men's exhibition dual against Illinois State orginally scheduled for Sunday has been canceled.
