INDIANAPOLIS – The MSU Denver softball team is ranked 10
th in the South Central Region in the first official NCAA Division II region rankings of the season.
At the end of the regular season, the region rankings are used to determine the field and the seedings for the regional tournament. After the Rocky Mountain Athletic and Lone Star Conference tournaments are played, the tournament champions plus the six-highest ranked teams that didn't win a tournament are invited to the regional tournament.
Multiple factors are included in the regional ranking committee's determinations.
Currently, MSU Denver has the region's sixth-best in-region winning percentage (.720), the sixth-best Division II winning percentage (.720), and the sixth-best winning percentage against Division II teams that have winning percentages of .500 or better (.500). The Roadrunners also have the 10
th-best RPI in the region, but its strength of schedule is 24
th of 27 teams in the region. However that figure will go up after playing four games this week against Colorado Christian (45-4).
