DENVER – The MSU Denver men's tennis team played a highly-competitive dual Thursday against Nebraska-Kearney, losing 4-3 only after having two singles matches decided in super-set tiebreakers.
Meanwhile the Roadrunners' women, after nearly securing the doubles point, were beaten by the Lopers 7-0.
The back-and-forth men's dual saw MSU Denver win the doubles point, with
Lluc Limongi Ollers/
Alessandro Munoz clinching it at No. 3 with a 7-6 (5) victory.
In doubles,
Alejandro Jimenez won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1, and Limongi Ollers rallied for a 1-6, 7-5 1-0 (10-4) win in a super set.
Marco Jalalian suffered a close 6-4, 7-5 defeat at No. 3 and Nebraska-Kearney eventually secured a come-from-behind win with super-set victories at Nos. 5 and 6, capped by a 7-6 (6), 2-6, 1-0 (10-7) win over
Reid Rainwater.
MSU Denver's women nearly picked up the doubles point against the Lopers, losing 7-6 (4) at No. 1 and 7-6 (9) at No. 2.
Kambra Roles turned in the Roadrunners' best singles match, falling 0-6, 6-4, 1-0 (12-10) at No. 4.
Both MSU Denver teams are in action against Friday, Saturday and Sunday, playing duals in Pueblo, Colo.
