BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The No. 7 MSU Denver volleyball team cruised to a pair of victories Friday, sweeping both Sonoma State (Calif.) and host Western Washington.
The Roadrunners are now 3-0 on the season after the 3-0 victories at the Western Washington Invitational.
Annika Helf had 11 kills on .444 hitting in the opening match and 13 kills on .556 hitting in the nightcap, putting her at .500 for the day (24 kills, six errors, 36 attacks). She had three service aces against Sonoma State.
Two-time All-American
Riley Anderson followed up a nine-kill opening match with 12 more against Western Washington while hitting .500 (one error, 22 attacks).
And
Maddy Williams had 10 kills on .500 hitting to go with four blocks in the second match, following up a six-kill effort against Sonoma State on .417 hitting.
In the 25-20, 25-20, 25-21 win over Sonoma State, MSU Denver hit an impressive .388, with 42 kills and 11 errors in 80 attacks. The Roadrunners also had an 8-3 advantage in service aces.
Skyler Michael had six kills, while
Kryssa Moerman had five kills on eight error-free swings (.625) and added three blocks.
Delaney Eckhardt set 21 assists and
Abbie McCrimmon had 11 digs.
In the 25-14, 25-22, 25-20 victory over Western Washington, MSU Denver stayed hot by hitting .374 (45 kills, 11 errors, 91 attacks). Moerman again hit error-free, this time with five kills in 10 swings, and finished the day at .556. Eckhardt had 22 assists, and McCrimmon had 15 digs and two service aces.
MSU Denver wraps up the tournament Saturday with a noon MDT match against San Francisco State (0-1).
