GOLDEN, Colo – The Colorado School of Mines outscored the Roadrunners 26-14 in the third quarter and would hold on for the 71-63 victory at home.
 
The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for MSU Denver, and their record fell to 6-12 overall and to 5-5 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Orediggers improve to 6-11 overall and 4-5 in the conference. 
 
Turnovers plagued MSU Denver in that first quarter, as the team gave away eight of them in a 13-13 first quarter. But then the Roadrunners top scorer Mikylah Espinosa caught fire and would score nine points in the second quarter giving the Red and Blue a 31-19 lead. 
 
But the Orediggers finished the first half on a 8-0 run, thanks to back-to-back buckets from Olivia Lee to cut the Roadrunners halftime lead to just four points at 31-27. 
 
The home team carried that momentum into the second half on the shoulders of Orediggers' guard Jenna Siebert, who took over in that third quarter. She scored 17 points to help her team to take the lead away from the Roadrunners and to give her team an eight-point lead heading into the fourth. 
 
Espinosa added eight more points in the fourth quarter, but MSU Denver couldn't get closer than eight points the rest of the way. Siebert was a handful scoring 31 points on 11-of-22 from the field and 5-of-10 from three-point range. 
 
MSU Denver had three players reach double figures, with Espinosa leading the way with 20 points and three steals. Nevaeh Millard finished with 14 points and Brianna Sealy chipped in 11 points and nine rebounds. 
 
The Roadrunners will be back at home next weekend as they host New Mexico Highlands on Thursday night before welcoming in Fort Lewis on Saturday, Feb 1.
