DENVER - The MSU Denver women's basketball team fell to New Mexico Highlands in a tough RMAC matchup on Tuesday night by a score of 75-62.

Despite a strong performance from their bench, which contributed 32 points, MSU Denver struggled to keep pace with the Cowgirls, who capitalized on second-chance opportunities and efficient scoring inside the paint.

Amanda Byrnes led the Roadrunners with 16 points, shooting 6-of-11 from the field, including a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line.
Brooklynn Jones added 13 points, while Mariana
Mariana Silva Pereira and
Nevaeh Millard both chipped in with 9.

The Roadrunners struggled with their shooting efficiency, finishing just 33.9% from the field and 25% from three-point range. MSU Denver's 15 turnovers proved costly, as New Mexico Highlands converted those into 17 points. The Cowgirls also controlled the boards, out-rebounding the Roadrunners 49-26.

MSU Denver started slow, falling behind 21-14 in the first quarter and trailing 39-28 at halftime. Despite a strong third quarter that saw them shoot 53.8%, they couldn't cut the deficit significantly, as New Mexico Highlands maintained control in the final period.

With the loss, MSU Denver falls to 6-13 overall and 5-6 in RMAC play. They will look to bounce back in their next game as they continue their conference slate against Fort Lewis on Saturday, February 1 at 1 p.m.
