@MSUDenverBSB: Despite Yuran's two home runs, Roadrunners fall 7-4

Roadrunners give up four earned runs in final three innings to Emporia State

EDMOND, Okla – The Roadrunners fell to Emporia State 7-4 in their opening game of the 2025 season.

Brad Helton took the mound for MSU Denver and gave up two solo home runs in the first inning and one in the second to allow the Hornets to jump out to a 3-0 lead. T.J. Racherbaumer, Noah Steele and Dylan Brisbois all hit solo shots in those first two innings.

But Helton would settle down after that and finish with just those three earned allowed on five base hits while striking out five in five innings of work. He would not factor in the final decision.

Cam Yuran answered back with his first two home runs on the season, hitting a solo blast in the third inning, followed by a two-run shot in the fifth to tie the game at 3-3. The senior outfielder is fourth all-time in program history with 42 home runs.

A new Roadrunner gave MSU Denver its first lead of the game, as senior transfer Easton Amundson connected on his first round tripper of 2025 putting his squad ahead 4-3 in that fifth inning.

But Emporia State would get to the Roadrunners bullpen and score four runs over the final three innings to give the Hornets the 7-4 win. Roadrunners pitcher Joey Adge earned the loss after giving up two earned runs in the seventh inning.

Yuran would finish the day 2-for-5, with two runs scored, three RBI and those two home runs. Erubiel Ortiz would go 2-for-5 with a run scored, while Royce Vandine went 2-for-4. Mason Oakley pitched 1.1 innings and didn't give up a run, striking out one Hornet.

The Roadrunners will take on Central Oklahoma tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 mountain time.
