@MSUDenverVB: Another Sweep for the Roadrunners Makes it Four in a Row with Win over Hardrockers

DENVER – The No. 12-ranked MSU Denver volleyball team closed out a dominant three-match homestand in style Saturday afternoon, sweeping South Dakota Mines 3-0 at the Auraria Event Center. The Roadrunners improved to 13-3 overall and 5-1 in RMAC play, while the Hardrockers dropped to 4-12 overall and 2-4 in the RMAC.

The victory marked MSU Denver's seventh consecutive sweep against South Dakota Mines and extended the Roadrunners' all-time series lead to 12-1. It also completed a perfect weekend in Denver, as the Roadrunners swept all three matches of their homestand without dropping a set.

The Roadrunners' defense anchored the performance, recording 12 total team blocks—their second-highest mark in a match this season—while holding South Dakota Mines to just a .080 hitting percentage.

Alyssa Boyte led the blocking effort with eight block assists to go along with seven kills on .294 hitting. Annika Helf paced the attack with 13 kills, while Karyna Werley dished out 23 assists and added nine kills of her own.

Alivia Huxoll was efficient off the bench, posting seven kills on .538 hitting, and GabriElle Brewer contributed 15 assists and an ace.

MSU Denver hit .218 as a team and closed out each set with late surges, winning 25-16, 25-23, and 26-24.

With another sweep added to their tally, the Roadrunners continue to build momentum heading into the next stretch of RMAC play away from the Auraria Event Center. They take on Chadron State in Nebraska for their next match on Friday, October 17, at 6 pm MT.
