PUEBLO, Colo. – The MSU Denver cross country teams turned in another solid performance Friday at the South Central Regional Preview, led by Darren Hayden, who continued his impressive start to the fall season.
In the women's 6K, O'Neal finished ninth in 23:00.0, her third consecutive top-10 finish this fall. She has been the Roadrunners' top runner in each meet this season. Close behind was Paige Tack, who placed 10th in 23:00.1, giving MSU Denver two finishers in the top 10.
Peyton Meier (17th, 24:30.4). Payton Rusk (18th, 24:40.5), Avanti Wadhwa (19th, 24:45.5), and Abi Read (20th, 24:47.2), all placed inside the top 20, giving MSU Denver four runners in the top 20 overall. Rachel Wheeler (22nd, 25:16.7) and Alexandra Doumanov (25th, 26:05.2) rounded out the lineup.
On the men's side, Hayden led the way with an eighth-place finish in 26:53.5, marking his second straight top-10 finish and his third time as MSU Denver's top performer this season. Shota Yabuuchi placed 18th in 27:44.7, followed by Eisen Dacus (19th, 28:11.5), Elijah Garcia (22nd, 28:44.9), and Wells Stucker (23rd, 29:20.8).
MSU Denver will return to action at the UCCS Open on Oct. 10 in Colorado Springs, as they continue building toward the RMAC Championships later this month.
