ALAMOSA, Colo. – MSU Denver opened Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play in dominant fashion Friday afternoon, rolling past Adams State 6-0 at the ASU Soccer & Lacrosse Field.
The Roadrunners (now 3-2-4 overall, 1-0 RMAC) have won back-to-back matches, outscoring opponents 7-0 over that stretch. The six-goal explosion marked the program's most points, goals, assists, shots, and shots on goal in a single game since a 9-0 win over St. Cloud State on Sept. 3, 2023.
Adan Perez scored his team-leading third goal of the season in the 17th minute, following up on an early strike by Matt Vogel, who has now scored in back-to-back matches and recorded points in three straight. Vogel's tally was his second of the season and third career goal.
The offensive fireworks continued as freshmen Rhyson Johnston andn Kenji McCracken each netted their first career goals, while John Lucio and Max Farnum both found the net for the second time this season. Lucio's goal in the 84th minute capped the scoring, while Farnum's 40th-minute strike gave the Roadrunners four goals before halftime.
In addition to Vogel, MSU Denver piled up six assists, including two from Robert Sumner and one each from Colin McKenna, Bryan Vazquez, and Joey Kresnik. Goalkeepers Nick McNeil and Shawn Mantey combined for the team's second straight shutout, facing just three total shots.
MSU Denver outshot Adams State 26-3 overall and 13-1 on goal, while building a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The Roadrunners now turn their attention to the second half of their RMAC-opening road trip, traveling to Fort Lewis on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in Durango, Colo.
