@MSUDenverVB: Roadrunners Struggle Against Mines

GOLDEN, Colo. – The No. 8 ranked MSU Denver Roadrunners dropped a non-conference matchup Friday night at Colorado School of Mines, falling 3-0 (25-16, 27-25, 25-21) at Lockridge Arena.

The Roadrunners, now 9-3 overall and 2-1 in RMAC play, battled closely in the second and third sets but couldn't overcome the Orediggers in a hard-fought road contest that did not count toward conference standings.

Senior Annika Helf led the offense with 12 kills on .258 hitting, while Alyssa Boyte added six kills and three blocks.

Setter Karyna Werley turned in another strong all-around performance with six kills, 16 assists, seven points, and one service ace, continuing her standout freshman campaign.

Alivia Huxoll chipped in five kills and two block assists, and GabriElle Brewer handed out 16 assists to go along with one service ace.

Defensively, Helf and Megan Hagar each recorded 11 and 6 digs, respectively, as the Roadrunners finished with 12 total blocks and four service aces on the night.

Colorado School of Mines hit .351 as a team while holding MSU Denver to .223, led by Amanda Donais Dudley's 11 kills and five blocks.

The Roadrunners will wrap up their road trip with a showdown against Colorado Christian on Saturday at 3 p.m. in Lakewood, before returning home for a Tuesday night RMAC matchup against UCCS at the Auraria Event Center.
