DENVER — The No. 12-ranked MSU Denver volleyball team continued its dominant stretch Thursday night, defeating Colorado Mesa 3–0 (26–24, 25–19, 25–19) at the Auraria Event Center to extend its winning streak to nine matches — all by sweep.
The Roadrunners improved to 18-3 overall and have now won 27 consecutive sets, their longest set-winning streak since last season.
"I was really proud of how we played tonight, and we didn't always have it easy but we battled and grinded through it," head coach Jenny Glenn said.
The victory also marked a significant milestone in the rivalry, as MSU Denver snapped a two-match losing streak to Colorado Mesa and moved to 20–8 all-time against the Mavericks.
Freshman Brooke Gennerman continued her impressive debut season, recording 10 kills on .286 hitting, marking her sixth double-digit kill performance of the season. Alyssa Boyte added 11 kills on a .529 attack percentage, her first double-digit effort in 10 matches — with her last coming against Mesa on Sept. 28, when she had 13 kills in Grand Junction.
"She's [Alyssa] awesome, she has a drive and passion for the game...she's always available and dependable in a lot of spaces." Glenn stated.
Annika Helf also contributed 12 kills and four service aces, while setter Karyna Werley directed the attack with 23 assists, seven kills, and 10 digs as the Roadrunners hit .274 as a team.
The Roadrunners' balance and consistency have fueled their rise, with the team maintaining its top-15 national ranking while continuing to dominate both offensively and defensively.
MSU Denver will look to keep its streak rolling when it hosts South Dakota Mines on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Auraria Event Center to close out pod play.
