DENVER — The No. 12-ranked MSU Denver volleyball team got back on track in a big way Tuesday night, sweeping UCCS 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 30-28) at the Auraria Event Center.
The Roadrunners improved to 11-3 overall and 3-1 in RMAC play, while UCCS dropped to 12-2 overall and 3-1 in the RMAC. The victory also marked MSU Denver's 13th consecutive win over the Mountain Lions, a streak dating back to 2015, as the Roadrunners now hold a commanding 27-3 all-time series lead.
"It felt so good to be at home," head coach Jenny Glenn said. "It was good to be back in our own beds and not traveling, it was a great night to kickoff our RMAC season at home."
Senior Annika Helf continued to shine, leading all players with 16 kills on .324 hitting to go along with 14 digs for her fifth double-double of the season. Brooke Gennerman and Alyssa Boyte added balance at the net with 11 and seven kills, respectively, while Boyte hit an impressive .500 and contributed three blocks.
Setter Karyna Werley posted another strong all-around performance with 19 assists, nine kills, 11 digs, and 10.0 total points, one kill shy of a triple-double.
GabriElle Brewer distributed 21 assists and added a pair of service aces. Skyler Michael was efficient on both sides of the net, finishing with six kills on .300 hitting and three block assists, and Kryssa Moerman chipped in seven kills while matching Michael with three block assists.
MSU Denver hit .281 as a team and limited UCCS to .154, controlling play through the first two sets and outlasting the Mountain Lions in a thrilling third frame that featured 17 ties and five lead changes.
The Roadrunners will look to build on the win when they return to action Friday night at 6 p.m. MT at home against Black Hills State in another RMAC matchup.
