Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

@MSUDenverWSOC: Red and Blue Fall 2-1 to CSU Pueblo

DENVER – MSU Denver women's soccer showed plenty of fight under the lights at the Assembly Athletic Complex on Thursday evening but came up just short in a 2-1 loss to CSU Pueblo. The Roadrunners now sit at 1-6-4 overall and 1-3-1 in RMAC play, while the ThunderWolves improved to 3-4-3 overall and 2-1-1 in the RMAC.

After falling behind late in the first half on a CSU Pueblo penalty kick, MSU Denver came out energized in the second, controlling possession and creating consistent chances in the attacking third. The effort paid off in the 67th minute when Monica Yoder buried a rebound into the back of the net — her second goal of the season, tying her for the team lead.

The goal sparked life into the Roadrunners, who continued to pressure with a flurry of corners and shots on goal, ultimately outshooting the ThunderWolves 12-6 and earning nine corner kicks on the night.

But despite the surge, CSU Pueblo capitalized on a quick counterattack in the 77th minute to reclaim the lead, and MSU Denver's late push couldn't find the equalizer. Goalkeeper Kiley Hyde made two key saves, and Yoder led the offensive effort with a team-high five shots, including two on target.

MSU Denver will look to bounce back with a win at home on Sunday, October 12, to face Colorado School of Mines at 12 p.m. MT at the Assembly Athletic Complex.
