DENVER — The No. 10-ranked MSU Denver volleyball team extended its remarkable run of dominance Friday night, sweeping Adams State 25-18, 25-18, 25-12 at the Auraria Event Center to earn its 13th straight victory. With the win, the Roadrunners improve to 22-3 overall and 12-1 in RMAC play, continuing to build momentum heading into the final day of the regular season.
MSU Denver controlled the match from start to finish, combining a steady offensive attack with its most imposing defensive effort of the year. The Roadrunners recorded a season-high 16 total blocks, suffocating the Grizzlies at the net and holding them to a .000 hitting percentage — the lowest by any MSU Denver opponent this season.
This marks MSU Denver's 14th consecutive win over Adams State, and have lost just one set in 10 matches since 2015.
Leading the defensive effort was sophomore middle blocker Alyssa Boyte, who delivered the best performance at the net of her young career. Boyte posted a career-high 11 total blocks and tallied a team-best 12.5 points, showcasing her ability to take over a match defensively. Her presence anchored an MSU Denver defense that consistently shut down Adams State's rhythm and limited their attackers all night.
Annika Helf added 8 kills on .429 hitting and contributed 4 blocks, continuing her steady offensive production.
Brooke Gennerman posted 7 kills and 5 blocks, continuing her dominant freshman campaign for the Roadrunners.
Offensively, the Roadrunners finished with a .283 hitting percentage, paced by another balanced performance from the entire lineup. MSU Denver never trailed in the final two sets and steadily pulled away behind its combination of blocking, serving pressure, and efficient swings.
The Roadrunners now turn their attention to Saturday's 4 p.m. home matchup against New Mexico Highlands, where a win would clinch the RMAC regular-season championship and secure the right to host the RMAC Tournament next week. With the team riding its longest winning streak since last season's 14-match run, MSU Denver enters the regular-season finale with everything still in front of them.
