CANYON, Texas — MSU Denver women's basketball wrapped up its first road weekend of the season on Sunday afternoon, falling 101-69 at West Texas A&M. The Roadrunners move to 0-2 on the year as they continue their opening stretch under new head coach Lynn Kennedy.
Morehead State transfer Aaliyah Holmes led MSU Denver in scoring for this game, finishing with 11 points, five rebounds and a pair of assists off the bench. The Roadrunners once again showcased their depth, getting 42 bench points, highlighted by strong efforts from Brianna Sealy (8 points), Lex Trujillo (7 points) and Bri Bowden (7 points).
Maggie Teven turned in a solid all-around performance with 9 points and 4 rebounds, while Jadyn Watts added 7 points, and Madison Johnson knocked down an early triple to help MSU Denver stay within striking distance after the opening quarter.
Despite shooting an efficient 44% from the field, the Roadrunners were unable to slow down a hot West Texas A&M offense that shot 54% and hit 10 threes.
MSU Denver now turns its attention to the Washburn Classic, where it will face Northeastern State on Friday at 4 p.m. in Topeka, Kansas.
