@MSUDenverMSOC: Roadrunners Reclaim Second Place in RMAC Standings with 3-0 Shutout over Colorado Mesa

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — MSU Denver men's soccer bounced back in a big way Sunday afternoon, earning a crucial 3–0 road victory over Colorado Mesa to move back into second place in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings.

The Roadrunners improved to 8-4-5 overall and 6-2-1 in RMAC play, while Colorado Mesa dropped to 8-5-4 overall and 5-3-1 in the conference. The win also marked MSU Denver's first victory in Grand Junction since 2015, snapping a long eight match road drought against the Mavericks.

Junior Adan Perez continued his standout season, scoring his team-leading sixth goal of the year, which also marks a new career high for goals in a single season. Perez's strike capped a strong offensive performance that saw three different Roadrunners find the back of the net.

Dallas Baer opened the scoring in the 11th minute with his second goal of the season, putting MSU Denver on the front foot early. Max Farnum extended the lead in the 59th minute with his third goal of the year, before Perez sealed the win in the 81st minute to secure all three points.

The Roadrunners' defense was equally sharp, holding the Mavericks to just four shots on goal, while goalkeeper Nick McNeil made three key saves in a shutout to preserve the victory.

The win marked MSU Denver's sixth conference victory of the season, the most under head coach Nick Kirchhof since he took over the program, and the most for the Roadrunners since 2019, when they finished with eight RMAC wins.

MSU Denver reclaims second place in the RMAC standings, bumping CMU out of the two spot. With one match remaining in the regular season, the Roadrunners control their own destiny in pursuit of a first-round bye in the RMAC Tournament.

The Roadrunners will return home to close out the regular season on Wednesday at 6 p.m. when they host Colorado Christian at the Assembly Athletic Complex.
