SAN ANTONIO, Texas — MSU Denver wrapped up its weekend in Texas with a 75–59 road loss to unbeaten St. Mary's on Saturday afternoon, dropping the Roadrunners to 1–3 overall while the Rattlers improved to 4–0.
Junior guard Garrett Falls once again led the way offensively, scoring 17 points and extending his season-long streak of 14 or more points in every game. He added two rebounds and two assists in another strong two-way performance.
Redshirt freshman Amare Bethel delivered the one of the best outings of his young career, pouring in a career-high 16 points on 5-for-11 shooting, including three 3-pointers. Bethel provided a major spark off the bench and scored 13 of his points in the second half.
Defensively, Brian Unachukwu continued his impact around the rim with three blocks, marking his second three-block performance of the season, while also grabbing six rebounds.
MSU Denver shot 46.3 percent from the field and connected on seven 3-pointers, but St. Mary's used a 20–9 advantage in second-chance points and a 36–24 margin in paint scoring to maintain control throughout the afternoon.
The Roadrunners return to action on Friday, taking on Eastern New Mexico in a neutral-site matchup hosted at CSU Pueblo.
