MSU Denver came out fearless, shooting 50 percent in the first half and using a late second-quarter surge to grab a 46–39 advantage at the break. However, Fort Hays State responded with a strong third quarter to regain control.
Mikylah Espinosa (20 points) and Nevaeh Millard (16 points) each delivered season-high scoring performances to pace the Roadrunners' offense.
Madi Johnson served as the team's primary facilitator, finishing with a team-leading six assists, while Brianna Sealy set a new season-high with four steals, helping MSU Denver force 17 Tiger turnovers.
The Roadrunners now shift their focus to conference play. MSU Denver returns home Thursday after the holiday break for its RMAC opener against Fort Lewis at 5:30 p.m. at home.
