DENVER — MSU Denver opened RMAC play in explosive fashion Thursday night, pulling away late to earn a 95–81 win over Fort Lewis inside the Hamilton Gymnasium at the University of Denver. The victory moves the Roadrunners to 2–5 overall and 1–0 in RMAC play, while also delivering the program's highest scoring output since a 101-point performance against New Mexico Highlands in 2018-19.
The night began with a fast-paced first quarter that saw MSU Denver shoot over 64 percent from the floor, but the real separation came after halftime. Tied 42–42 at the break, the Roadrunners finally broke the game open in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Skyhawks 30–20 behind a barrage of threes, relentless rebounding, and suffocating defensive pressure.
Jadyn Watts delivered a dominant performance, recording her first career double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds, both career highs. She scored nine in the final quarter alone and knocked down all three of her attempts from beyond the arc, helping MSU Denver hit 11 total threes — a season-best mark.
Nevaeh Millard matched the breakout energy, pouring in a career-high 23 points and tying her personal best with three made threes. She was crucial in the second half, repeatedly scoring in transition to fuel MSU Denver's surge.
The Roadrunners also got exceptional playmaking from Mikylah Espinosa, who recorded her first career double-double with 13 points and a career-high 10 assists — the most by a Roadrunner this season.
Brianna Sealy anchored the defensive effort with 12 rebounds and added five points and a block.
As a team, MSU Denver shot 57.9 percent from three (season-high), forced 19 turnovers, and saw four players reach double figures. The balanced attack and fourth-quarter push turned a tight conference opener into the Roadrunners' most complete offensive outing of the season.
MSU Denver returns to action Sunday at noon at home, hosting Adams State in another RMAC matchup.
