@MSUDenverMBB: Late Comeback Sparks Roadrunners First Road Win of the Season

GUNNISON, Colo. — MSU Denver men's basketball clawed its way back from a double-digit deficit and closed out a gritty 87–83 road win at Western Colorado on Thursday night, snapping a six-game skid and earning its first road victory of the season.

The Roadrunners improve to 2–7 overall and 1–2 in RMAC play, showing resilience late behind a clutch performance from junior guard Logan Threatt.

The Roadrunners spent much of the first half trying to keep pace as Western Colorado shot over 55% from the field and hit 14 threes on the night. Down nine at halftime and trailing by as many as 15 early in the second half, MSU Denver slowly chipped away with defensive stops and stronger inside play.

The turning point came in the final eight minutes, when MSU Denver ramped up its pressure and started turning turnovers into points. Threatt was at the center of the surge. His late-game burst helped MSU Denver flip a 73–70 deficit into a 78–75 lead.

In the final two minutes, Threatt took command. With Western threatening, he buried a mid-range jumper, hit a pair of free throws, and scored again in traffic to push the Roadrunner lead to four. Threatt finished with 21 points, his highest scoring output since dropping 24 in the season opener, and added six rebounds and three steals.

Balance also carried MSU Denver throughout the night.

  • Quave Propst-Allison scored 18 points and went a perfect 6-for-6 at the free-throw line, including two game-sealing makes with one second left.
  • Garrett Falls added 15, and the bench delivered a crucial spark with 34 combined points.
  • The Roadrunners also won the rebounding battle 35–22, a key factor in the comeback effort.

After a week of close calls, MSU Denver finally broke through and did it in one of the toughest road environments in the RMAC.
