DENVER – The arms came ready to pitch on Sunday, as the Roadrunners gave up just one run on seven total hits in the two victories at home.
Game One:
Natalie Romero twirled a gem in the first game of the doubleheader. The sophomore went the distance (seven innings), scattered four hits and struck out a career-high 10 batters in the 5-1 win. She earned her third victory on the season and has an incredible 1.45 ERA in six appearances this season.
The offense scored five runs on 10 hits and was led by
Alexia Boring, who went 2-for-3, with two runs scored and smacking her team-leading fourth home run on the season in the seventh inning.
Also hitting a round tripper in the seventh inning was
Jaiden Geist, who drove in the fourth and fifth runs of the game. It was the senior's first long ball of the 2025 season.
Game Two:
We saw another dazzling performance in the circle, as
Cheyenne Prieto also went the full seven innings, giving up just three hits and striking out three Skyhawks in the complete-game shutout. It was the junior pitcher's third win on the season and is pitching to a 2.45 ERA in six appearances.
Prieto was also helping out her own cause at the plate. She drove in the first two runs of the game, doubling to left center field bringing home Geist and Boring.
Adriana Bueno had two base hits in the game and drove in two, while Boring continued her hot hitting racking up two more base hits and coming through with an RBI single in the fifth..
The Roadrunners will battle the Skyhawks for two more games on Monday afternoon starting at 11 a.m.
