DENVER -- The MSU Denver Roadrunners took down the Colorado Christian Cougsrs by a score of 18-12 Friday evening, and have now won five in a row.Â
The Roadrunners improve to 20-15 overall and 12-5 in RMAC play.
It was a bit of a weird one as this series was supposed to be played in Lakewood, but due to scheduling conflicts was moved to the assembly athletic complex. Normally the roadrunners would be hosting these games however the Cougars would be the home squad for this four game set.
Nolan Livsey got the start and went six innings strong allowing just three hits and striking out four over that time frame. He went on to finish allowing four runs but just two of them earned.
The hometown Roadrunners bats came alive after starting out the first two innings scoreless. The flood gates opened with two outs after they scored six runs that was started by yet another Cam Yuran homerun adding to his career record.
Andrew Graham joined the party as he went back to back with a solo shot of his own. The squad proceeded to bat around the order after eight straight batters reached base.
Colorado Christian would follow up with three runs of their home in the bottom half. However the Roadrunners responded as they do so often with four in the next inning followed up by another two in the 5th. They would capitalize on the bases running up five stolen bases over the game.
After six innings the Roadrunners led 12-3 and Nolan Livsey was taken out in line for his seventh win of the season. However the Cougars were not done as they bounced back with a six spot of their own in the bottom half of the 7th cutting the lead down to three.
The Roadrunners did not play around with their food as they bounced back with another crooked number in the top half of the 8th scoring six of their own putting the game out of reach.
They would end up winning with a final score of 18-12 after compiling 16 hits, 11 which were extra bases.
The team compiled a season high in doubles with seven as well as five stolen bases three of which came from Andrew Biddle. They were one of their team high that was set earlier in the year vs Adams State.
