Schmeh Hits for the Cycle, Amundson Belts Five Homers

DENVER — The MSU Denver Roadrunners cracked the record book wide open Saturday afternoon, breaking the program record for runs scored in a single game with a 36-7 win over the Colorado Christian Cougars. 

The Roadrunners improve to 22-15 overall and 14-5 in RMAC play, and have extended their winning streak to seven games with the doubleheader sweep.

GAME ONE (MSU Denver 36-7)
In a contest where the Red and Blue compiled a school record 36 runs and tied the record for hits in a game (32), it was infielder Gavin Schmeh who stole the show. 

Schmeh hit for the cycle, with an unbelievable stat line of 6-for-7 at the plate with another school record of nine runs driven in with two doubles and two homers. He hit his second grand slam of the year in the seventh inning to capture the team record for runs. 

Easton Amundson belted another two home runs in game one with six RBIs and three runs. He went 3-for-5 and is now up 20 homers on the season, just one behind the conference lead. 

Cam Yuran was one of the other Roadrunners to go yard, and went 3-for-3 with four runs, four RBIs, and one walk. 

Riley Roskopf was credited with the win after 3.2 innings of shutout baseball, allowing just two hits.

GAME TWO (MSU Denver 15-5)
If two home runs in game one wasn't enough, Easton Amundson outdid himself and hit three big fly's in game two for a total of five on the day. 

Amundson went 3-for-4 with three runs and six RBIs. With his five on the afternoon, he is up to 23 on the season, which now leads the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and is now two behind the all-time program record of 25 home runs set in 2019 by Matt Malkin

Erubiel Ortiz joined the home run party in this one, with a two-run shot in the third inning. He went 2-for-3 with three runs and three RBIs. 

Andrew Biddle racked up another three hits in four at-bats, and chipped in two runs, two RBIs, and two stolen bases. 

Drew Peters secured the win after tossing five innings, allowing five runs on seven hits.
