@MSUDenverBSB: Offense Soars in Game One, CMU Takes Game Two

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — The MSU Denver Roadrunners split Friday's doubleheader with the Colorado Mesa Mavericks, winning game one 9-3 and dropping the second game 11-2.

The Roadrunners are now 30-19 overall on the year and 22-9 in RMAC play. The Mavericks move to 35-11 overall and 25-4 in conference play.

GAME ONE
The top of the MSU Denver lineup carried the load in the first game, pushing them to a six-run win on the road. The first four hitters notched all nine runs scored, eight of the nine hits, and seven of the nine runs batted in.

Jesse Velders and Cam Yuran belted the two homers in the contest and had a combined seven RBIs.

Velders hit a two-run shot in the fourth for the first Roadrunner runs of the game to go up 2-1. He finished the game going 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBIs.

Yuran hit his home run in the sixth frame, a three-run big fly that gave MSU Denver a comfortable lead. He went 3-for-4 with two runs and four RBIs.

Dylan Webber earned the win in this one, going 4.1 innings allowing three runs on six hits. Kobe Krenz was perfect in relief, tossing 2.2 innings without allowing a single baserunner. He also struck out three.

GAME TWO
There wasn't much offense in the second game for the Roadrunners, scoring two runs in  the second inning, but that's all they would get.

Easton Amundson blasted his 28th homer of the year, extending the single-season program record. It was a two-run shot that scored Andrew Graham. Amundson ended the game going 1-for-2 with a walk.

Drew Peters was credited with the loss after getting the start on the mound for MSU Denver. Peters went 2.1 innings, giving up four earned runs on eight hits.
